What are Dual Credits?
Dual credit programs are ministry-approved programs that allow students, while they are still in secondary school, to take college or apprenticeship courses that count towards both the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and a postsecondary certificate, diploma, degree or a Certificate of Apprenticeship.
Why take Dual Credit?
Dual Credit is an opportunity for grade 11 or grade 12 high school students to…
- experience the college environment
- earn Algonquin College credit(s) AND credit towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma
- gain a head start on career training
- discover vocational pathways
Because funding is provided through the School|College|Work Initiative there is no, or very little, cost to the student.
